In 1 Corinthians (11:20-21), Paul tells us the people were using the Lord's Supper to feed their own individual appetites rather than caring for one another. To restore their fellowship with Christ and with one another, the church had to gather at the table, the way Jesus invited them to do. As we receive communion each week, we are called to that kind of community. One that cannot be dissolved by petty conflict or disagreement, one in true fellowship with one another, caring deeply and loving openly.
